Evelyn is a compassionate, skilled clinician who has over 15 years of experience and training. She uses a collaborative therapeutic approach to help support adolescents and adults who are experiencing challenges in their lives and relationships. She offers a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment and uses her clinical skills to assist people in exploring solutions and to gain new perspective on the issues they are facing. She is experienced in the areas of trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, shame, stress, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and addiction, as well as other mental health and relationship issues.
Evelyn graduated from the University of Guelph with an honours degree in Psychology as well as in Family Relations and Human Development. She then completed a Masters of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. Further training has included EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is an innovative and powerful psychotherapy model that is used primarily to address the impact of trauma, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder. Evelyn has provided psychotherapy in a variety of settings including a family counselling agency, the school board, community agencies, and non-profit organizations. She has conducted research regarding the gaps in service for women who have experienced domestic violence and currently facilitates a support group for parents of victims involved in human trafficking. For the past five years, Evelyn has provided individual and group therapy at the Canadian Mental Health Association for clients struggling with moderate to severe mental illnesses, particularly anxiety and depression. While there, she led groups for mood disorders and trauma. Evelyn is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers as well as EMDR Canada.
Understanding that choosing a therapist and initiating therapy can feel difficult, Evelyn is happy to provide a brief, complimentary phone call or meeting to discuss how therapy may be of benefit and to address any questions you may have before making a decision about whether to proceed. Regular sessions are 50 minutes in length at the cost of $140. She also offers 75 minute sessions which are often recommended for couples and for EMDR, and these are $200. As a Registered Social Worker, her fees are covered by most extended health plans or can be claimed as a medical tax deduction.
Evelyn has a holistic approach and recognizes the important connection between mental, physical, and emotional health. She looks forward to helping clients achieve good health outcomes and a better quality of life. She continues training in both professional and personal development, and stays up to date with current research and developments in the field of mental health. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and being outdoors.
